Yep, it was my mistake. An impetuous decision, one with clearly drastic consequences. I got home and his forehead felt hot because his hair was so long. I had spoken to Ingrid and talked about giving him a trim. I then laid Ethan on top of the changing table, pulled his bangs down with the sense that I would just quickly trim them, and then snipped. Much to my dismay, he moved, and I suddenly realized just how much I had cut off. :( I then attempted to clean it up; however, I am not as skilled as our downtown barber and so I proceeded to make it into a poorly sculpted bowl cut.
I convinced myself that it didn't look that bad until I spoke to Deb on Facetime who very quickly said, "What did you do to his hair?!?!?" I was busted and had no idea what to do. I thought maybe Michael wouldn't notice, but of course, the first thing out of his mouth was, "Wow, he looks ridiculous." Awesome.
That said, I knew I had to leave it to the experts even though I had hoped to wait until he turned one. Lulu's it was! We went there on Thursday afternoon and he sat in a car seat, had bubbles blown at him, and got to watch Elmo. Quite the luxurious experience for a 10 month old. A certificate, balloon, and $32 dollars later, he looked MUCH improved.
Lesson to self--never, ever pick up the scissors. Be patient. Someday Ethan will laugh....
