House Hunting

So... Michael and I have finally recognized that sadly we can't stay in this apartment for another year or else Ethan is going to fully take over. It is a bittersweet feeling and we flip flop daily about where we see ourselves moving. Do we stay in Brooklyn? Buy in Staten Island? Buy in Westchester? Long Island?

We are in full agreement that we want to be close to the city, but would like more space. It was ironic that this article came out this weekend in the NY Times about creating hipsturbia in the suburbs, but we know that we need to make a move. We are looking for a place with about a 30-40 minute drive for me and an easy train commute for Michael with a nice big kitchen area, 3+ bedrooms, a backyard, living room space, a garage, and in close proximity to some sort of downtown. There are some adorable areas in Westchester/Eastchester that also have good schools. Since we likely won't be flipping the house anytime soon, we want to make sure that we are located somewhere where we can continue growing into as well as a place we can call home. Oddly enough, Nina and Krista just bought in Westchester--both a little further north than we would be looking, but it's nice to know we'll have people potentially nearby if we go that route!

We saw a house in Staten Island on Sunday and it's true that the more houses you see, the more you realize what you do/don't want (and this was only house #1). This one was big, but the bedrooms were on top of each other and the home needed a bit too much work for us. There was a pool but no backyard and the basement ceilings left a ton to be desired. It was right on top of the houses around it, which is what made us rethink the whole Staten Island thing...

Let the adventures begin...
