One Hour of Sleep

Yesterday at Theo's birthday party, everyone was commenting on what a good baby Ethan was. Now don't get me wrong, he is a great baby--mostly mellow, funny, cute, personable, cuddly, a decent sleeper, etc. However, last night we must have jinxed ourselves. I went to bed around 1:30 and wouldn't you know it, Ethan woke up at 2:30. I fed him and then thought he'd go right back to bed. No such luck. It was almost a comedy routine--he'd be soothed back to sleep, I'd tiptoe out, get into bed, and then he'd wake up. This  happened at least 8 times. At 3:30, I even attempted to put him into the Rock n Play for the first time in two weeks. Even that didn't work! So...I found myself at 4:30 rocking him and walking through the apartment. Ethan literally laughed aloud. It was longer than many of his laughs and I honestly couldn't stop myself from laughing either. It's pretty amazing what an almost four month old can do to your spirits even on such little sleep. One of the moms said to me yesterday, "Treasure the rocking him to sleep and having him fall asleep in your arms because before you know it, they are too big for that." Her son is only one! Despite being majorly sleep deprived, I cannot imagine it any other way. Let's just hope tonight is back to normal....
