Next Steps: Nanny 2.0

We are on the hunt for our next step in the daycare process! We have been so lucky to have Debra here with Ethan during the first few months that Michael and I were back at work, but as she transitions back into a more regular position with benefits, we have started the process of what happens next. We have reached out to a few daycares and I wrote up a posting in Care.com. With over 200 responses to the Care.com ad, I realize that this is another full-time job to weed through them, contact ones that seem like potential fits, and then meet with them. Ugh. The daycare process has been whittled down to likely two options. I'm still not sure which way we are leaning. With a nanny, you have no idea who you are really getting and with a daycare, I know that Ethan would end up getting sick more frequently. Both have pros and cons.

We were lucky enough to be connected with a family on Park Slope Parents who is looking to find a couple to do a nanny share with. Apparently, they had already found an amazing nanny, but the woman with whom they were set to share with lost her job. :( The couple came over on Saturday morning and Michael and I felt an instant connection. They were funny and didn't take themselves too seriously. The husband ripped on the food coop and Michael was instantly in agreement. Anyway, we meet the nanny on Monday night and hopefully it will be a good fit! What a relief it would be if this all worked out! Their son, Micah, is three months younger than Ethan, but it would be so nice if they could have a connection with each other!
