It has been really exciting to get back to work in so many ways and so refreshing to use that side of my brain again! From talking with families to helping students make the right choices, from working with teachers to thinking strategically about the growth of our school, it has felt so energizing to get back into things! That said, it is also a huge adjustment. On Monday night, I came home at 6 PM and had two hours of joy with Ethan and then he was down for the count. The hardest thing here is going from being with Ethan for 24 hours a day to being with him for maybe 3-4 hours per day! Weekends are clearly going to take on a completely different meaning! It's so important that Ethan knows he has parents who love what they do, but this adjustment is going to take a little bit of time for me. Luckily at work, there isn't a second to pine over him. The day flies by and before you know it, I'm on my way home to cuddle with E.
I've heard about the mom guilt--you feel guilty for thinking about work and then feel guilty for thinking about your little one, but in many ways I feel like I have the best of both worlds--every day I go to a job that I love and every day I leave and come home to the best gift in the world. I will continue to thank my blessings and be grateful because those cheeks can melt away any sort of stress!
