Well, Ethan is the starring player in the game of sleep and tonight was an epic battle. The past week he has been amazing--large chunks of sleep, going down relatively fast, and not crying too much.
Tonight we have been rocking him off and on since 8 PM. It's now 1:30 and he has fallen asleep and woken up multiple times. I am not yet ready for letting him cry it out, but am revisiting the plethora of sleep books I have and am writing it down as a question for his next doctor's appointment. Ethan needs to learn how to soothe himself...this last time I want in, he was screaming a high pitched squeal (this was a great use of his lungs) and as soon as I picked him up he cooed, smiled a big fat smile, let out a large fart, and then laughed. Seriously? The final straw involved Ethan back in the rock n play with Michael and I shushing him ala happiest baby on the block. We both had a hand on different sides of his face--a definite low point. Let's hope tonight was an anomaly...especially as we both gear up to get back to work. Sweet dreams (finally!).
