The Simple Joys

G and Gigi always talked about the importance of the simple joys and every day with Ethan is all about celebrating and noticing those simple joys. Tonight I could think of nothing more perfect to do than to rock him to sleep. As I sat in the gray rocking chair and listened to the mix of baby rock lullabies, Ethan's snores, and the repetitive suck on his pacifier I was struck by how much simpler (and ironically more complicated) life had become. Ethan's birth has helped put everything into perspective. Truly this is one of the favorite parts of my days. Tonight our story choices were Where the Wild Things Are, I'll Love You Forever, and the standard Goodnight Moon. I read him I'll Love You Forever and bawled because of the beauty of that mother/son relationship. It is so special. I never imagined being able to love someone so much and having it get better and better. Truly Ethan is a blessing and such a joy.
