Rub-a-Dub-Dub, 3 Biz's in a Tub

So...tonight we attempted bath #3. We were much more confident and had the heat pumping and the heat at an acceptable temperature so we weren't freezing little E out as he sat in the bathtub perched on top of the kitchen sink. Ethan was calm and I was able to wash him and just as I thought things were going well, he decided to relieve himself in the tub. Yep, soft-serve mustard ice cream all over the tub. I think I uttered a laugh and then Michael and I froze. If there was a video camera on us, we definitely looked/sounded/acted like the three stooges. I quickly removed Ethan from the tub and put the towel around him. Meanwhile, Ethan continued to take care of bizness and it was now not only everywhere in the tub, but on the towel and on me. I was holding him 3 feet in front of me and Michael frantically went to get another towel. He was looking to find one and no matter how I described where the towels were (and despite the fact that he had gotten them multiple times), it took a solid two minutes (or it felt like that) to find another one. Part of me continued looking around waiting for another adult to fix everything and yet again realized (terrifyingly) that the buck stops with us. We are the adults who need to clean up after everything and are figuring out this whole new chapter of parenthood. There isn't the phantom parent around to help us although the Three Stooges would fit in quite well at 110 Warren Street. With that, Michael was back and like the father of the house, calmly drained the tub so that we could fill it again and Ethan was cleaned off relatively quickly. And with that, we were Back. In. Bizness.

The joys of babies...Ethan will definitely hate us when we're telling this story someday and have the pictures and blog to prove it!

Passively rolling with the bathtime punches

The video below was before the drama ensued...

All clean, emptied, and relaxed
