Sleepless in Brooklyn

For the past two days, Ethan has decided that he is boycotting naps. Monday, I chalked it up to being so excited to see Aunt Deb, but yesterday, after our coffee trip with his buddies, he was exhausted but couldn't seem to fall asleep until it was actually bed time. We tried everything--nursing, rocking, dancing, talking, music, dark room, etc. I was attempting to cook dinner and he got 30 minutes of shuteye before he woke up again forcing me to abort the dinner mission until Michael got home! When he's sleeping it's easy to get things done, but when he's awake, it is impossible unless he is in a playful mood and is content in his crib with the toys around him (and that usually buys me 15 minutes!). As I think about all the moms who have multiple kids at home AND cook dinner nightly, I salute you. I used to think I was a mastermind of multi-tasking, but Ethan has definitely taught me otherwise! Thankfully, Michael usually does the cooking, but I would like to get the hang of doing both--goal for the next few weeks of maternity leave! Finally we laid down on our bed and he slept for an hour and after nursing for one final time, he fell asleep! Last night was a success! He slept from 11-2:32, from 3:30-5:30, and after stirring a bit from 5:30-6:50. I've read that a baby's brain grows while he/she is sleeping. Let's do this, E! Hallelujah!
Who needs sleep? Not this guy.

Aaaah, relief.
